An amazing trip for sport and history lovers!
From Pontecorvo we follow a path of great historical and cultural interest. Through little streets and mountain roads that had a key role during the Second World War, extremely important for the German and Allied troops fighting on the Gustav line.
THIS TRIP INCLUDES
The adventure begins in Pontecorvo, little town in the Liri Valley, from which you will head to the slopes of Montecassino. You will ride through districts and hills where some of the bloodiest battles took place during the second world war, between the Canadian and German troops.
Once in Cassino, you will head towards the famous Abbey. Along the way you’ll have the chance to admire the beautiful “Rocca Janula”, the castle build for defensive purposes still dominating the town today.
Trip includes the visit to the Polish Cemetery, that holds the graves of over a thousand Poles and over two hundred Belarusians who died, storming the bombed-out Benedictine abbey atop the mountain in May 1944, during the Battle of Monte Cassino, to the Monte Cassino Abbey and the “Calvary Mount”, known during the war as Hill 593.
